Overview
Castlevania lord of the shadows 2 is an action-role playing game developed by mercury steam and published by Konami. In it we assume the role of Gabriel Belmont who is a vampire.In the storyline we transverse between dream and the current time by which he recalls his lost powers and memories.The current time is that of a mordern society while the dream is based on medieval period.
Plot
The game is starts out as a recap of Lords of Shadow and Mirror of Fate which also details Gabriel Belmont who was initially a worshipper of god and slayer of evil,yet after killing Satan he was turned into Dracula.During the game he encounter his son, Trevor, whom he had killed without knowining that he was his son and subsequently resurrects, and grandson Simon who was the sole survivor of the Brotherhood of Light.The game starts with knights invading Dracula's castle. He swiftly dispatches all of them before being confronted by the revived Trevor now known as Alucard.After a period of thousand years Dracula awakens in a Cathedral in modern times,He was weak from starvation and with no memory of the circumstances that led him to his current state.He is warned by his former enemy, Zobek of the return of Satan. Zobek offers him his old weapon,a relic known as the Vampire Killer,which was the only relic capable of ending his cursed existence.In exchange for him to send all the humans to their demise.The group of people who are trying to ressuruct Satan are known as acolytes.The key which can help him regaining his power lies in his castle. Throughout his journey, Dracula is aided by various allies, including Zobek's bodyguard and specters of his deceased wife Marie and a younger form of Trevor. He also encounters the Brotherhood of Light and its current leader, Victor Belmont.After destroying two of the acolytes and he started tracking down the third,where Dracula prepares to ambush him but is stopped by the bodyguard, flashbacking to his last encounter with Alucard which changes his whole objective.Find it out for yourself.
Gameplay
In this game the player controls Gabriel Belmont also known as Dracula, Since most of the places are restricted hence it does not allow the player to navigate the areas freely.The player fights through an open world combating demons and overall increasing techniques and their strengths.During the opening sequence of the game the player is able to control Dracula while he still possesses all his powers as well as all of his weapons.Dracula's main weapon is his Shadow Whip, which allows him to attack a long range.The two new equipment introduced in this series is the Void Sword and the Chaos Claws. The Void Sword can replenish Dracula's health with each hit to the enemy while the Chaos Claws can be used to break through enemy defenses and armors which cannot be broken withot brute force, it is mostly useful in delivering powerful attacks.The story mode in Lords of Shadow 2 is mainly an open world allowing the player to choose what route to take.Lords of Shadow 2 features also features movable camera, something that was not available in its previous series.After a while Dracula Gains A Dragon medallion which enables him to unleash his full force wiping the enemies in the area.An addition power which are used by the brotherhood of light are the wings of light.Similarly Dracula also gains this power which make places more accessible but there is a slight variation as his are red in color. The wings are highly useful to reach unreachable places as well as to evade attacks.All these features makes this game one of the most enjoyable Hack and slash game.
